What is a microgreen?
Simply put, a microgreen is a part of the life cycle of a plant. It first begins as a seed. Then, after a few days it is a sprout. After approximately a week most plants have reached the microgreen stage of the plants life cycle.
(see below for example of a radish life cycle)
Why eat microgreens?
Microgreens are said to be the most nutrient dense food on the planet. Anywhere between 10 to 40 times the amount of nutrients can be found in the microgreen stage of any given plant.
They taste very much like the mature plant it would grow into and are way more nutritious eaten as a microgreen. Simply wash (just prior to eating) the microgreens, then use them raw as a garnish to any dish you can think of: salads, sandwiches, wraps, smoothies, pastas or try some dehydrated microgreens powder and use it as a spice on any home cooked meal... and the list goes on endlessly!
